Local transport on Mykonos Island
Buses, taxis, caiques, Delos departures &
other useful tourist information provided by M.A.C.

Buses: 2 main Mykonos Town ( Chora) bus stations:

  • Fabrika square, south of Town. for connections to all south coast beaches on the island: Ornos, Agios Ioannis, Platis Yialos, Psarou, and Paradise Beach.
    mid-season approx on the hour, later approx.  every half hour (10am/10h- 8pm/20h or later).
    Peak season July & August- buses run till 2am.Fares range from 0,80 € to 1,20 € depending on your destination..

  • Behind the archaeological museum, north part of Town: connections for the northern beaches Agios Stefanos and Tourlos, eastern Island districts/beaches : Kalafati, Elia, Kalo Livadi and Ano Mera village: 
    buses approximately every hour (except Kalo Livadi only 2 buses a day)  
    later in peak season buses till midnight and even till 2am for Agios Stefanos Beach.
    Cost per ticket: 1 Euro for the closest beaches and 1,20 Euro for Elia, and 1,50 Euro for Kalafati.

TAXIS: Fleet of 30 taxis- inadequate for the island demand - main location in Town Square , on the harbour front, near statue of Mykonian heroine Manto Mavrogenous.
Notice board gives rates for each destination, taxis do not use meters. You must wait in line ... Prices for single way fare, from Mykonos Town (Chora) 
              to Tourlos: 2 Euro Drs. to Ag. Stefanos: 2,50 Euro
              to Ornos: 3 Euro, to Airport, Ag. Ioannis & Platis Yialos: 5 Euro
              to Psarou: 5 Euro, to Ano Mera: 7 Euro, to Paradise: 10 Euro
              to Elia & Kalafati: 15 Euro    
- Taxis also found at airport : price per way each way add 2 Euro. to above Town prices,
             - Radio taxi service: late hours and out of town :

CAIQUES:
small fishing boats converted into tourist transport: fun and sight- seeing all at the same time.
                  - from one end of Platis Yialos Beach, very handy location near stop for buses to/from Town:
                    small boats leave every hour or less to a wide selection of beaches: Paranga,  Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari, Elia.Prices per person one way: 3 € to Paradise & Paranga, and approx. 4,40 € to
Super Paradise, Agrari & Elia.
                  - from Ornos Beach to Psarou: 4,10 €, and 5 € for Super Paradise, Agrari & Elia.
cost to rent a boat with captain for 4 or 5 hours for a group of 15 persons, approx. 250 Euro or 300 US $. 
Boat goes to Delos, further away beaches of your choice or the islets situated south of the island if weather permitting.
Renovated  luxury vessel "Phoebos" for 80 persons:

DELOS
Departures: to the antique archaeological sanctuary: now an unhabited island with some of the most remarkable existing ruins in Greece: round trip ticket costs 30 Euro. incl. entrance fee for the island.
- from old jetty in town: 3 boats daily:
"Margarita" dep. at 09h50, 11h10 with return from Delos: at 13h30, 15h00.
"Orka" dep. at  09h00, 10h15, 12h50 with return from Delos: 12h20, 13h45.
- also from Platis Yialos to Ornos to Delos: more information later for small groups on request.

General shopping info: 
Banks open 8am/8h till 2pm/14h30 week-days only: Fridays until 2pm/14h00 only.
You need your passport to change-up money.
Shops and boutiques usually open from 10am/10h till 2pm/14h and again from 5pm/17h till late night.
ATM: Automatic Teller Machines: 5 in Town at bank locations:
you can cash money with following cards: visa, master card, amex , cirrus, maestro, diners.
Cinema (open air): very interesting new programme of films to start , beginning of June: usually 2 films a week with 2 shows a night.
Situated in calm and beautiful, centre Town gardens.
International Press: newspapers, magazines and books at the International Press shop, near Agia Kyriaki Square, close to main, Town taxi square.
